A search is underway by the USI Student Government Association for a new student trustee to serve as the student representative on the USI Board of Trustees. Lauren C. Fultz, the current student trustee, will end her two-year term on June 30, 2007. Applications are online at www.usi.edu/sga and in the Dean of Students Office, Rm. 007 in the University Center. The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the University, and the student trustee serves as a full voting member who is expected to bring both the interests of students to trustee discussions and relate his or her perspective to issues dealing with the University community. Faculty and staff who know eligible students with good leadership skills are encouraged to invite those students to apply. To be considered for an interview, students must submit the following items to the Dean of Students Office, UC 007, by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2007: • a completed application; • an essay addressing why he or she is interested in the position and what he or she can contribute to the Board of Trustees (limit to 300 words); • three letters of recommendation* and • an activities resume’ as outlined in the application packet One letter of recommendation must be submitted by a member of the USI community, one by a faculty member from whom the student has taken a class, and the third letter by a personal or professional reference who is not connected to the University.)
