William “Bill” and Trudy Mitchell of Albion, Illinois, are hosting an information reception for Illinois parents, high school students, and transfer students who are interested in attending the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Indiana. The Mitchells and USI admission counselors will begin the program at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21 at Windsor Oaks Best Western Inn at Interstate 64 and Illinois 1 near Grayville. Refreshments will be served. The reception, free and open to the public, continues to 8:30 p.m.

The Mitchells are generous donors to the University of Southern Indiana. They know the value of a USI education and want Illinois citizens to know about this higher education resource located on Highway 62 in Southwestern Indiana. They will be available to talk with interested parents and students about USI and its 70 academic programs.

USI admission staff will offer information on the University’s academic programs and review new scholarships for Illinois residents that include the Regional Academic Scholarship for a student with a high school (or college) grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 who resides in University housing and the Non-Resident Grant for a student with a minimum 2.5 high school GPA (transfer college student with a 2.0 GPA) who plans to enroll in 2007 for the fall and spring semester.

Individuals who cannot attend the reception but want to know more about USI, can visit the campus on Southern Hospitality Days scheduled for Saturday, March 17 and Saturday, April 14. Activities for Southern Hospitality Days start at 8 a.m. at USI. Reservations are encouraged for the reception and/or the visitation days and may be made by calling 1/800-467-1965.

USI is a comprehensive public university established in 1965. A liberal arts and science curriculum serves as the foundation of knowledge for USI programs and complements undergraduate programs leading to careers in business, engineering, government, health professions, education, and related fields. USI offers an educational experience that emphasizes close interaction between students and professors dedicated to teaching. There is an institution-wide commitment to student success. Fall 2007 classes will begin Monday, August 27, 2007.
