Less work, more play at this year’s USI Employee Picnic
|
The University’s vice presidents will not be grilling hamburgers at this year’s USI Employee Picnic. Sara Rhoades, administrative associate in Graduate Studies and co-chair of the employee relations committee of the Staff Council which sponsors the picnic said, “We want them to be able to enjoy the picnic and interact with employees.” This year, the event will be catered by Buehlers Buy Low, with fried chicken and ice cream on the menu and a “Summer Social” theme. The picnic will emphasize fun and games, with prizes and an Eagle’s Auction. Each employee in attendance will receive five tickets with which to bid on items in the auction. Those who bring a donation for Archibald Eagle’s Food Closet will receive five additional tickets. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at a new location - the outdoor courts between the Physical Activities Center and the Recreation and Fitness Center. “It’s more convenient to have the games there, away from the construction area,” Rhoades said. In years past, the picnic was held between the University Center and Rice Library, where the quadrangle construction project is currently underway. Employees will play games such as volleyball, basketball, and washers, and the RFC will provide more games and a giant boom box, Rhoades said. The USI Employee Picnic is open to all employees and student workers. For more information, contact Rhoades at 812/465-7015. |
