University Division advisors win national awards
|
Three University Division advisors were recognized by the National Academic Advising Association in April. Amber Hughes is one of only three advising professionals to receive a scholarship award in the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) national competition this year. NACADA announced in April that Hughes received a 2007 Academic Advising Summer Institute Scholarship for a week-long, advising program July 29-August 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Renee Rowland is one of only eight advisors chosen for the 2007 NACADA Outstanding Advising Certificate of Merit and will be recognized at the NACADA national meeting. Brian Hinterscher won the 2007 NACADA award for Outstanding New Advisor. He transferred to the University Division from Residence Life, where he was an area coordinator, in September 2006. The awards will be presented at the NACADA conference in Baltimore, Maryland in October. “I am so proud of the work these advisors have been doing here at USI, and it is nice to see them recognized nationally by their peers at NACADA,” said Dr. Brian Posler, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs. |
