Daviess County high school student placed fourth at international science fair

Elnora resident Stacey Vosters, a finalist at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in May, placed fourth in the Plant Science category and earned $500. She represented North Daviess High School. Merle Callahan is her teacher. Vosters is one of two finalists at the international fair from the Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair held in March 2007 at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. The other finalist is Esther Uduehi from Evansville Reitz High School. About 1,500 high school students from 51 countries, regions, and territories around the world competed for $4 million in scholarships and awards at the international fair, considered to be the world’s largest science fair. The 2008 Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair will be held March 11 and 12 at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. Winners will compete in the state science fair and the two senior grand award winners will have the opportunity to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair which will be held in Atlanta next May.
