A series of state-wide forums looks at healthcare issues and delivery systems in Indiana.

Indiana University researchers at IUPUI have been asked by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration to compile a report, which is expected to make recommendations on such issues as the growing number of Hoosiers without adequate health insurance and how Hoosiers can get higher quality healthcare for their money.

The forums will be held at:
• Fort Wayne – June 4, Ivy Tech main campus, Room 1200, 3800 N. Anthony Boulevard.
• Gary – June 6, IU Northwest, Savannah Center, 3400 Broadway.
• South Bend – June 8, IU South Bend, Wiekamp Hall, Room 1001, 1700 Mishawaka Ave.
• Evansville – June 11, University of Southern Indiana, Carter Hall, 8600 University Boulevard.
• Richmond – June 13, IU East, Whitewater Hall Auditorium, 2325 Chester Boulevard.
• Lawrenceburg – June 15, Rooms 444,446, and 448, Ivy Tech Community College, 50 N. Walnut Street.
• Indianapolis, - June 18, IUPUI, Room 252, Information Technology Building, southwest corner of Michigan and West Streets.
• Terre Haute – June 20, Landsbaum Center for Health Education, 1433 N. 6 ½ Street.
• New Albany – June 22, IU Southeast, Room 104, Hillside Hall, 4201 Grant Line Road.

The forum at USI will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Carter Hall.

The forums, conducted by an IU workgroup, are part of an effort to study potential reforms in healthcare delivery in Indiana. The IU workgroup conducting the healthcare reform study includes representatives from the IU Schools of Medicine, Law, and Public and Environmental Affairs.

The workgroup’s primary product will be a public report outlining alternative strategies to address the future of healthcare delivery in Indiana.

The healthcare reform study was requested by the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. Information obtained during the forums will help provide data-driven and evidenced-based policy recommendations about such issues as the growing numbers of Hoosiers with no or inadequate health insurance, uneven quality distribution of healthcare in Indiana and how Hoosiers can get higher quality healthcare for their money.

Those unable to attend a forum are encouraged to participate by emailing comments to hcreform@iupui.edu.

Persons interested in participating in a healthcare focus group that will meet prior to a town hall forum should visit www.healthcarereforum.iupui.edu.
