Sheriff Eric Williams to welcome new students
Vanderburgh County Sheriff Eric Williams ‘89 will welcome new students to the University as the keynote speaker for the 2007 New Student Convocation on Friday, August 24. Held during Welcome Week (August 23-30) the Convocation is the official induction of new students into the USI community. The event is held the Friday morning before fall classes begin and features a variety of inspiring speeches from faculty, staff, and students. Each year, the keynote address is given by a distinguished alumnus or alumna. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from USI in 1989. He joined the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office in 1988. In addition to being elected Vanderburgh County Sheriff in 2007, he serves as a board member for several community organizations. During his days as a student, Williams was an AMIGO and a student trustee on the USI Board of Trustees. He also was involved in the Student Government Association, the Activities Programming Board, and Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. The New Student Convocation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Physical Activities Center. All new students are expected to attend, and will receive a gold-plated bookmark featuring the USI seal. For the complete Welcome Week schedule, click here. |
