Parents and families of USI students will participate in events on campus on October 6 and 7. Registration will start at 8 a.m. in the Rice Library lobby. Campus tours will begin at 9 a.m. Faculty & Student Presentations Saturday, October 6 10 a.m. – Noon Faculty members and students will give 20-25 minute interactive presentations at different locations on campus. Each presentation will be repeated at 10, 10:30, 11, and 11:30 a.m. You are welcome to enjoy the hands-on activities listed below. College of Nursing & Health Professions HP 1008 Check out the audience response pads introduced to USI students last year. This new teaching tool is an asset to students and faculty members. Ann White, professor and assistant dean of the College of Nursing, will lead parents and families in a question and answer period using the response pads. Bower Suhrheinrich College of Education and Human Services HP Performance Lab – HP 054 Visit the Health Professions Performance Lab (located on the lower level of the Health Professions Center) to take part in one or all of the following activities: heart rate and blood pressure screenings, Sit-and-Reach, Hand-Grip, bike interactive system, and hexagon exercises. EDUC 0139 Stop by the newly renovated Social Work Department for games and prizes! This interactive activity, led by Sharon Simmons, assistant professor of social work, will allow parents to spin a wheel that will land on different social work careers. Parents will then be given additional information about the corresponding career opportunities in the field of social work. Displays will provide additional information about social work in general. The program is sponsored by the Office of Alumni and Volunteer Services. |
