Mini-massage anyone? Employee & Student Wellness Fair is October 25
|
You can get poked, prodded, and hypnotized at this year’s Employee and Student Wellness Fair. The fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, in Carter Hall in the Univeristy Center. A variety of healthcare and wellness organizations and workers - including an acupuncturist, chiropractors, and a hypnotist - will offer services. Representatives from nonprofit organizations, including the YWCA, American Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Association, Arthritis Association, Matthew 25 Aids Services, Vanderburgh County Health Department, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be in attendance. Counseling services in attendance will include Deaconess CONCERN, Mulberry Center, and the USI Counseling Center. Other campus involvement in the fair comes from the Recreation and Fitness Center, Physical Education Department, Respiratory Care Program, Student Health Center, Nutrition Program, and Student Wellness Office. A nursing class will offer cholesterol and lipid profile tests and blood pressure checks, while a worksite wellness class will perform health risk assessments. Also represented will be The Good Feet Store, Curves, Health South Rehab, Home Instead Senior Care, Miracle Ear, and Ohio Valley Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Registration at the door qualifies employees and students for drawings for multiple giveaway items. You also can register for a free acupuncture session. Free apples, popcorn, bottled water, and Nutrisoda will be available. The event is sponsored by the Employee Wellness Committee, Human Resources, and the Department of Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness.
