|
Seven recipients of the 2008-2009 USI/Epi-Hab Center for Disability Studies Scholarships have been selected and will be recognized during Honors Week. A $1,000 award toward tuition is given to one student from each of the five colleges, and a sixth is available to a student in the University Division or from the Bachelor of General Studies program. This year, an at-large scholarship also was awarded. The winners are: • Ashley Baum of Evansville, public relations and advertising. • Margaret E. Burgess of Mt. Vernon, pre-occupational therapy. • Catherine Ewing-Booker of Indianapolis, social work. • Aphrodite Hudson of Evansville, economics. • Romelle Tillman of Evansville, general studies. • Traci Johnson of Beech Grove, secondary education biology. • Susan Hunt of Princeton, Master of Social Work. A student does not have to have a disability to qualify for the scholarship, but is asked to write an essay about his or her perceptions of disability in America.
