Indiana Commission for Higher Education student position opening

A search is underway for a student from one of the public higher education institutions in Indiana to fill the student position on the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, a 14-member public body created to define the educational missions of public colleges and universities in the state. University of Southern Indiana students are invited to apply. USI student Andrew McGuire is serving on the nominating committee. He is available to answer questions about the application process. To be eligible to apply, a student must be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student in good standing; be enrolled through the spring 2010 semester; be able to commit to a two-year term on the board, and be responsible to convene with and serve as a full voting member of this coordinating board, which meets approximately 20 to 25 days each year. Applications are available in the Student Government Office, UC024C and in the Dean of Students Office, UC007. To be considered for an interview, a completed application and two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a faculty member, need to be submitted by Friday, March 28, 2008 to the Commission for Higher Education office in Indianapolis. The Indiana Commission for Higher Education, created in 1971, plans and coordinates Indiana’s state-supported system of postsecondary education, reviews budget requests from public institutions and the State Student Assistance Commission, and approves or disapproves for public institutions the establishment of new programs or expansion of campuses. |
