Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineer Fair award winners announced

The winners of the 59th Annual Pott Foundation Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair were announced at an awards ceremony and reception Wednesday night at the University of Southern Indiana. Students from area middle schools and high schools within a 75-mile radius of Evansville were eligible to participate in the fair, which is sponsored by the Pott Foundation and the University of Southern Indiana Pott College of Science and Engineering. The top winners are listed below. For a list of all the winners, plus the titles of their projects, click here. Winners are organized by division and school. Senior Division Grand Award Winners: Hannah Scudder – North Daviess High School, Chemistry Stacey Vosters – North Daviess High School, Botany Scudder and Vosters will advance to the Indiana State Science Fair to be held April 5, 2008 at DePauw University and the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair May 11-17, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia, with over 1400 students participating from around the world. Additionally, they each will receive a $1,500 four-year renewable scholarship to the University of Southern Indiana and a Gateway laptop computer. Senior Division Grand Alternate Award Winners: Haley McConnell – F.J. Reitz High School, Chemistry Cate Fritchley – Central High School, Zoology McConnell and Fritchley will participate in the Indiana State Science Fair, where they will have the opportunity to compete for an additional Hoosier Delegation participation to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in May. They each will receive a $1,500 four-year renewable scholarship to the University of Southern Indiana and a Gateway laptop computer. Senior Division Scholarship Winners: Blane Lawyer – North Daviess High School, Botany Brian Thompson – F.J. Reitz High School, Engineering Each will receive a $1,500 four-year renewable scholarship to the University of Southern Indiana. Junior Division Grand Award Winner: Bree Neeley – St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Zoology Neeley is invited to participate in the Hoosier State Science and Engineering Fair and will receive a Gateway laptop computer. Junior Division Grand Alternate Award Winners: Thomas Dauer – Castle Junior High School, Physics Gavin Olson -- Castle Junior High School, Engineering Both are invited to participate in the Hoosier State Science and Engineering Fair and also will receive a Gateway laptop computer. The co-directors of the fair are Dr. Shelly Blunt, associate dean of the Pott College of Science and Engineering and associate professor of chemistry, and Dave Ellert, instructor in engineering. |
