USI SpringFest 2008:
Dashboard Confessional, USIdol, Battle of the Bands, carnival, more!
 Updated!The University of Southern Indiana’s SpringFest 2008, to be held Friday and Saturday, April 18-19, will feature a carnival with rides and food, the “USIdol” singing contest, HOT96’s record-breaking “World’s Largest Hug,” and a concert by alternative rock band Dashboard Confessional. The Dashboard Confessional concert will be held at the USI Physical Activities Center (PAC). All other activities will take place in the Valley Lot (Lot K) at USI. Advance tickets for the Dashboard Confessional concert are $25 for the general public, $10 for USI students, and $20 for faculty, staff, and alumni, and University of Evansville and Ivy Tech students (with valid student ID). They are available for purchase from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays through Thursday, April 17, in the Career Services office (Room 095) in the lower level of the Orr Center at USI or by calling 465-1136. Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted. Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, April 18, advance ticket sales will conclude, and the $25 general public tickets will be $40. All other ticket prices will remain the same. If there are any tickets left on Saturday, April 19, the day of the concert, they will be sold at the PAC. The doors will open at 6 p.m. Opening act Five Times August will play at 6:45 p.m. and Dashboard Confessional will take the stage at 7:45 p.m. Carnival ride tickets for the general public are $1.50 each; 10 tickets for $13; or a $16 armband for unlimited rides both days. Carnival rides will be free for USI students, employees and their families, and alumni. A Battle of the Bands from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. each night will include 4-Seamer, Slick Nicholas, and Blind Image on Friday, and Farewell to February, TGL, and Naked on Saturday. The Battle of the Bands is free to all. The USIdol semifinals will be held at 6 p.m. Friday on the outdoor stage. Nine contestants will be whittled down to three finalists who will peform at 5 p.m. Saturday, and a champion will be named. SpringFest 2008 is sponsored by the University of Southern Indiana’s Student Government Association and Activities Programming Board.
