Obama's foreign policy advisors hold forum at USI

Three of Senator Barack Obama's top foreign policy advisors will be on campus for a Foreign Policy Forum on Tuesday, April 1. The event begins at 5:45 p.m. in the University Conference Center, Rooms 201-204.

The panelists are Sarah Sewall, Greg Craig, and General Jim Smith.

Sewell, a first Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense during President Bill Clinton's administration, is the director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. She also served as a senior foreign policy adviser to former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. Her current research focuses on counterinsurgency and terrorism.

Craig served as the director of Policy Planning at the State Department during the Clinton administration and was the Special Counsel to President Clinton.

Smith retired from the U.S. Air Force as a brigadier general and served as Commander, Joint Warfighting Center, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Joint Training Analysis and Simulation Center. He was responsible for managing the joint force exercise and training development program and the modeling, simulation, and deploying of solutions that demonstrated high probability of operational success. His career includes 4,000 hours in the F-15 and T-38, including combat sorties during Desert Storm.
