"Art and Soul" features work by Gulf Coast artists

The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art presents “Art and Soul,” a benefit exhibition and sale of original artwork by Gulf Coast artists, August 9 through September 21. A reception for the artists from 4 to 7 p.m. August 23 includes live music from Drew Landry of Lafayette, Louisiana, and is free and open to the public. The exhibition represents some the best work from the Gulf Coast region. Many of the artists lost their homes, studios, and collections of artwork during and after Hurricane Katrina. Artists featured are Carolyn Busenlener from Plearington, Mississippi; Mary Ott Davidson from Saucier, Mississippi; Mary-Pat Forrest from Biloxi, Mississippi; Joyce Haun from Slidell, Louisiana; Lori Gordon, Theresa James, Mary Elizabeth Lirette, Vicki Niolet, Elizabeth Schafer, and Ruth Thompson from Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; Brenda Randolph from Diamondhead, Mississippi; Arelene Smith from Pass Christian, Mississippi; and Neil Unterseher from Kiln, Mississippi. New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is located at 506 Main Street in New Harmony, Indiana, and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
