Fall meeting will include Faculty Resource Fair
|
The fall 2008 faculty and administrative staff meeting on Monday, August 25, will include a new event – a Faculty Resource Fair during which faculty and staff can gather information about the many services offered on campus. Thirty offices have been invited to participate. Dr. Karyn Sproles, director of Faculty Development, developed the Faculty Resource Fair in cooperation with Academic Affairs and Institutional Research. The event was inspired by the success of the Research Resource Fair held during the reception for Scholarly, Creative, and Professional Achievement in April. When she talked to faculty and offices about participating in the fair she was overwhelmed by the response. "It isn’t just new faculty who needs this, it’s everybody," she said. “I’m hoping it will be a great day in terms of communicating information to faculty in a way they can remember instead of feeling overwhelmed.” The Faculty Resource Fair will be held before and after the Faculty and Administrative Staff meeting. Here is the schedule: • 8 to 8:45 a.m. – Coffee and rolls, UC Conference Rooms 201-204; Faculty Resource Fair, University Center Conference Rooms 201-204. • 8:50 to 9 a.m. – President H. Ray Hoops, welcome. • 9 to 9:45 a.m. – Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett, introductions and announcements. • 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. – University updates. • 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. – Dr. Mark Krahling, director, University Core Curriculum, and Lesa Cagle, chair, Faculty Senate. • 10:45 to 10:50 a.m. – Closing remarks. • 10:50 to 11:30 a.m. – Faculty Resource Fair, University Center Conference Rooms 201-204. • 11:30 to 1 p.m. – Luncheon, The Loft and The Eagles Nest. New faculty and administrators should sit in the special section reserved for them in the front middle section of Carter Hall to be introduced during the meeting. If professional responsibilities require you to miss the meeting, your absence must be approved by the dean of your college.
