Maldonado named USI athletic trainer
The USI Department of Athletics announced the hiring of David Maldonado as the head athletic trainer. Maldonado, who also is a licensed physical therapist, comes to USI from MultiCare Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Tacoma, Washington. He also worked with Pacific Lutheran University as an athletic trainer, with the PGA in player rehabilitation and training, and with the Tennessee Titans as a training camp intern over the past year in addition to his duties with MultiCare Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. The Washington state native earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Seattle Pacific University and his doctoral degree in physical therapy at Belmont University. He also is a board certified sports clinical specialist, a credentialed clinical instructor, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
