Business Idea Competition is for all students
|
In an effort to stimulate a spirit of entrepreneurship across the University, the College of Business invites all USI students to participate in its annual Business Idea Competition. The College of Business aims to help stimulate a productive entrepreneurial environment to better support and encourage USI's potential entrepreneurs. "Great ideas are everywhere on campus, in every discipline and every college," said Bryan Bourdeau, instructor in business. "Ideation and innovation, more than ever, is vital to create new stability and economic growth in America's volatile economy. USI's students are bright, capable, and full of great ideas to solve problems and create better communities." The students with the top three ideas will win a cash award - $250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third. Each of the first 50 entries will receive a free 1 GB flash drive. Last year’s winning ideas were an environmentally friendly lawn-care business, a feminine emergency kit, and a pager system in hospital patient rooms. To enter the Business Idea Competition, answer the following questions in one page or less: • What is the idea? (What market opportunity will you fill? What problem are you solving?) • Why do you think your idea is better than other ideas out there? (What makes your product, service, or business stand out?) • Who will be served by your product, service, or business? (What is the target market?) Submit your entry to Bourdeau at bbourdeau@usi.edu by 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 22. Submissions will be judged by a panel of experienced entrepreneurs and business executives. All judges will be held to the strictest standards of confidentiality. The Business Idea Competition is held in conjunction with Indiana Entrepreneurship Week (October 27-31) and Global Entrepreneurship Week (November 17-23).
