Alcohol Awareness activities every day

USI has events planned every day this week for National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week: • Sam Spady Lecture, 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 13, Carter Hall, University Center. Mark Briscoe, executive director of Sigma Pi Fraternity, will discuss alcohol awareness and introduce the video, “Death by Alcohol: The Sam Spady Story,” about Samantha Spady, a 19-year old student at Colorado State University who died of alcohol poisoning on September 5, 2004. Sponsored by the Student Government Association and Sigma Pi fraternity. • Sex Signals, 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, Carter Hall, University Center. “Sex Signals” mixes improvisational comedy, education, and audience interaction to provoke discussion about dating, sex, and the issue of consent. Sponsored by Activities Programming Board and SGA. • Midnight Madness, 11:30 p.m., Physical Activities Center. Free pizza, cash give-aways, and prizes, including USI vs. UE basketball tickets. Sponsored by the Red Zone. • Oksoberfest, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, University Center mall. Students can test their motor skills, mobility, and perception by attempting to play games while wearing “beer goggles.” Free food, fun, and prizes. Sponsored by SGA, APB, and the Interfraternity Council. • Alcohol Awareness Week Cookout, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, October 16, University Center mall. Free food. Sponsored by SGA. Finally, APB will show the movie “Wanted” at 9 p.m. Thursday, October 16, and 7 p.m. Friday, October 17, in Forum I in the Wright Administration Building. Also sponsored by SGA and Alpha Kappa Psi.
