A call to participate in the USI Experts Guide
|
The expertise of USI faculty is of value to the media and the public. This is a call for you to participate in the USI Experts Guide. Journalists refer to the USI Experts Guide to gather opinions, quotes, or background information for stories. Reporters often look to USI faculty members to provide insight, historical background, or informed reaction to issues. When assignments require reporters to add the local angle to a national story, this listing is the resource they use. Your participation in the USI Experts Guide can provide journalists information about your field, your expertise, and your program/courses at USI. Editorial coverage is important to USI. Your participation in the experts guide will strengthen the resource. However, be informed that experts are needed as news happens. Interviews are seldom requested in advance and often not during office hours. The current USI Experts Guide is online at www.usi.edu/newsinfo/experts. You can join the USI Experts Guide by completing and submitting the online information form. The online guide is updated as the online forms are submitted; experts are encouraged to submit forms by October 27, 2008. Current experts can submit updates and new entries using the form. If you have not been a participant in the past, we hope that you will consider adding your areas of expertise to the guide. New faculty members are encouraged to participate. Information about the USI Experts Guide is sent to reporters at print, broadcast, and online media. Questions about the USI Experts Guide can be referred to Brandi Schwartz, blschwartz@usi.edu, ext. 1192, in the Office of News and Information Services. Your participation will help the news staff make USI the place journalists turn to for experts on the day’s news. Thanks for your time and talent.
