Assessment Day is November 11
|
USI students who are first-time, full-time freshmen, juniors who started their college career at USI, and seniors majoring in certain programs must participate in assessment testing during Assessment Day on Tuesday, November 11. All classes on and off campus are cancelled on Assessment Day. Testing will take place in the Health Professions Center, Liberal Arts Center, Orr Center, Forum Wing of the Wright Administration Building, and Rice Library. For the freshman and junior tests, three testing sessions will be offered at 8:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. Senior major field testing will take place at 9 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Students are being notified by mail and through their USI-issued email (usieagles.org) as to the time and place of their testing session. Students must have their nine-digit student ID number on Assessment Day. Students can also verify their testing details, including time and place, online at usi.edu/ir/assessment_students. Students who fail to take the Assessment Day test, without a documented legal or medical excused absence, will have a hold placed on their pre-registration privileges that will not be removed until August 1, 2009. Students who receive a hold will only be able to register during open registration, which occurs the day before classes begin. “Assessment Day signals the importance USI places in the assessment and evaluation processes. The more we know about how our students are doing, the better we are able to strengthen academic programs to meet their learning needs,” said Dr. Linda L.M. Bennett, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “We use the data to measure student performance across programs, and for comparison with students at other universities.” For more information on assessment testing, visit www.usi.edu/ir or contact the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment at instres@usi.edu.
