Atheneum/Visitors Center now open year-round
|
The Atheneum/Visitors Center, in New Harmony, will now be open year-round, as will the Museum Shop. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Atheneum/Visitors Center will be closed Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve Day, New Year’s Day, Easter, and Thanksgiving. As always, an Atheneum tour and orientation film will be offered to visitors. Guided walking tours throughout the town will be available March 15 through December 30. Pre-arranged group tours are available at any time, by calling Sara Brown at 812/682-4474 or 800/231-2168. Historic New Harmony director Connie Weinzapfel said, “We have decided to remain open as a courtesy to New Harmony business owners, as well as visitors who come to town during the winter months. We hope by remaining open, that New Harmony businesses will see an increase in traffic during January, February and March.” The Atheneum/Visitors Center is located at 401 N. Arthur Street and can be reached at 812/682-4474 or 800/231-2168. To arrange a tour online, visit www.newharmony.org. Historic New Harmony is a unified program of the University of Southern Indiana and the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.
