Gray named GLVC Player of the Week
Gray started off the week by scoring 13 points in USI's 83-39 win over Missouri Baptist University, going four-of-four from the field with four assists and four steals. He followed with another season-high of 14 points in the 87-64 tournament-opening win over King College. Gray also had eight assists and two steals in the victory over King.
The junior guard saved his best for last in the Eagles' 89-88 upset win over third-ranked Florida Southern College. He led the Eagles with 26 points, his third consecutive season-high. Gray, who had 18 points in the first half, also sank two free throws to give the Eagles a vital four-point lead with three seconds to play.
Gray was a blistering 11-of-13 from the field, 2-of-3 beyond the arc, and 2-of-3 from the line in the win over Florida Southern.
In the three games last week, Gray averaged 17.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. He was a red-hot 69 percent from the field (20-29), 66.7 percent from beyond the three-point arc (4-6), and 69.2 percent from the charity stripe (9-13).
For the season, Gray is averaging 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and two steals a contest.
The Eagles (7-2) head north to open GLVC action this week, traveling to Lewis University on Thursday and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.
