The University of Southern Indiana had two former men's basketball players – P.K. Falkenstein and Chris Schafer – named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. This is the silver anniversary of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Falkenstein played in 75 games over three seasons (1986-89) with the Screaming Eagles. He averaged 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. Prior to his seasons with USI, Falkenstein started his collegiate career at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. He also played four-seasons at Jeffersonville High School where he was an All-State performer. Schafer played one season (1987-88) for USI after transferring from the University of Evansville. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 18 appearances for the Eagles. Before playing basketball at the college level, Schafer helped lead Princeton High School to the 1984 Indiana State Final Four. The Tigers were a combined 40-12 during Schafer's junior and senior seasons. The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's Annual Men's Banquet will be held on March 25, 2009. The ceremony will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall, which is located on the south side of Indianapolis. Tickets will be made available in early 2009.
