The University of Southern Indiana men's basketball team returns to the friendly surroundings of the Physical Activities Center this week to start a six-game homestand when it hosts Temple Baptist College Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The homestand also includes three GLVC contests with Saint Joseph's College, the University of Indianapolis, and Northern Kentucky University.

USI (9-2, 2-0 GLVC), which entered the NABC/Division II Top Poll at number 25 this week, has won its last eight games, including a two-game road sweep in the GLVC last week. The Screaming Eagles started GLVC play with a 73-67 victory over Lewis University and an 83-58 win over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The win marks the third straight season and the fifth time in six seasons that USI has started the conference schedule with two victories.

The Eagles were led during the short road trip by junior forward Brandon Russ (Cincinnati, Ohio), who was named GLVC Player of the Week after averaging 14.5 points per game and shooting 80 percent from the field (12-15). Russ was tied in the scoring column by senior forward Anthony Pimble (Bronx, New York) with an average of 14.5 points during the trip.

For the season, Pimble and Russ lead the way with 13.8 and 13.3 points per contest, respectively. Russ also leads the team in rebounding with 5.0 per game, while junior forward Tyrone Bradshaw (Cincinnati, Ohio) is blocking shots at a pace of 3.2 per game. Junior guard Marvin Gray (Freeport, Bahamas) is the team-leader in assists with a 4.4 average and is third on the squad with 11.6 points per contest.

The Patriots of Temple Baptist (0-4) begin this week's action still looking for a victory. Temple Baptist, who is scheduled to be on the road all season, plays the University of Cumblerlands Tuesday night before coming to play USI on Saturday. The Patriots are led by guard Jamal Charles and forward Rick Trimble with 10.3 points per game.

This will be the first meeting between USI and Temple Baptist in any sport.

The game will be aired on ESPN 106.7FM, WPSR 90.7FM, and WSWI 820AM. Links to hear the games via internet can be found on www.usi.edu/sports.
