Spring 2009 film series kicks off with "A History of Violence"

You can see free films in their original formats at USI: Three times on Tuesdays in the class ENG 285: Introduction to Film, and on Fridays in the Friday Night in the Forum series, which begins in April. All screenings are held in Forum I in the Wright Administration Building. Films are free and open to the public. Instructor Eric D. Braysmith said, “This is a rare opportunity to see some beautiful 35 millimeter prints of some great films up on the big screen with stadium seating and a fabulous sound system.” The Introduction to Film class meets at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. The film schedule is: “A History of Violence” – January 20 “Welcome to Mooseport” – January 27 “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story” – February 3 “Lyrical Nitrate” (Netherlands) – February 10 “The Circus”(1928) – February 17 “Delicious” (1931) – February 24 “Monsieur Verdoux” (1947) – March 3 “The Killing” (1956) – March 17 “Alice’s Restaurant” (1969) – March 31 “The Valet” (France) – April 7 “I’m Not There” –April 14 “Across the Universe” – April 21 “Happy Endings” – April 28 There will be no film on March 24, when students will take an exam. Friday Night in the Forum films start at 7:30 p.m. The Friday Night in the Forum schedule includes: “Alice’s Restaurant” (1969) – April 3 “The Valet” (France) – April 10 “Diva” – April 17 “My Winnipeg” (Canada) – April 24 “Up and Down” (Czech Republic) – May 1 Braysmith, lecturer in Liberal Arts, will lead a discussion immediately following each Friday Night in the Forum film.
