Historic Southern Indiana seeks applications for Community Legacy Award
|
Historic Southern Indiana will recognize a southern Indiana community for its outstanding achievements in preservation, enhancement, and promotion of its distinctive heritage with the 10th annual Community Legacy Award. With the award, Historic Southern Indiana seeks to strengthen the quality of life for residents of and visitors to southern Indiana by paying tribute to excellence in standards of community development. This award is presented to a community that has done an exemplary job of meeting the ideals of Historic Southern Indiana’s mission to enhance, promote, protect, and preserve the heritage of southern Indiana. Communities within HSI’s 26-county region are invited to apply. The winning community will receive a check for $1,000 and a plaque for public display. These will be presented at a ceremony coordinated by the winning community and HSI. The award-winning community will be selected by a panel of judges comprising the following organizations: Historic Southern Indiana; Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana; the Indiana Office of Tourism Development; and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Applications are due by Tuesday, March 3, 2009. Information on the award and the application are available at www.usi.edu/hsi.
