Black History Month events announced

The USI Multicultural Center has announced its Black History Month events, including: “An Evening of Gospel Music” featuring the Voices of Greater St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church of Indianapolis, Indiana, and the African American Choral Ensemble of Evansville, 6 p.m. Saturday, February 7, in Forum I in the Wright Administration Building. Designed by Grace, USI’s gospel choir, 4 p.m. Sunday, February 8, First Baptist Church, 307 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky. African American Trivia, noon to 1 p.m. Monday, February 9 through Friday, February 20. Prizes will be awarded. Webinar: “Reaching African American and Hispanic Males,” noon Wednesday, February 11, Health Professions Center Room 1027. This Webinar will discuss disparities in college enrollment and retention rates of black and Hispanic males. Black Student Union Week, Monday, February 16 through Friday, February 20. “Where You’ve Been and Where You’re Going,” presented by “Deal or No Deal” winner Anteia Greer ’04, 6 p.m. Monday, February 16, Forum I, Wright Administration Building. Minority Career Reception, 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, University Center Room 201-202. Reception open to all USI students to meet employers and learn more about successfully attending the USI career and internship fair. Information on creating an effective resume also will be discussed. Poetry Café, 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, Eagles Nest, University Center. Master Harold and the Boys, Thursday, February 19 through Sunday, March 1, Mallette Studio Theatre. Presented by USI Theatre, this moving humanist drama is set in South Africa during Apartheid. Movie: “The Express,” 9 p.m. Thursday, February 19, Forum I, Wright Administration Building. “The Express” is a true story about the inspirational life of college football hero Ernie Davis, the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy.
