Actuary Brian Pauley is Pott College alumnus in residence
Brian Pauley, a 2000 University of Southern Indiana graduate with majors in mathematics and chemistry, will present the Pott College of Science and Engineering Alumni-in-Residence program, “The Professional Actuary: Turning Risks Into Careers for Math Students,” at 2 p.m. February 26 in Couch/Renner Hall (Room 1101) of the Education Center.Pauley is an associate actuary with Humana Inc. in Louisville, Kentucky. He is responsible for the pricing and financial analysis of Medicare Advantage Plans for 21 markets in the southeastern region of the United States. Joining Humana in 2005, he was promoted to his present position in 2007. He previously was associated with Integrity Life Insurance, a subsidiary of Western and Southern Financial Group. Pauley is an associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He earned a master’s degree in mathematics in 2003 from the University of Louisville. Originally from Princeton, Indiana, Pauley served as president of the Student Government Association and student representative to the Board of Trustees at USI. In 1999, he received the Trustees Distinguished Merit Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the student’s major and in the liberal arts and sciences. He is president of the Greater Louisville Chapter of the USI Alumni Association. In addition to making the public presentation, Pauley will meet in small-group sessions with chemistry and mathematics students.
