Five Pike Central High School graduates have received scholarships to attend the University of Southern Indiana

Lorelei Cannon, Lisa West, and Miranda Wininger, also of Pike Central High School, received departmental scholarships to USI. Cannon plans to pursue course work in nursing and Wininger, dental hygiene, in the College of Nursing and Health Professions West will study biology in the Pott College of Science and Engineering. Departmental scholarships are awarded to students who earn an Indiana Academic Honors diploma and rank in the top 25 percent of the graduating class. They are four-year renewable scholarships. The Aline Nunn Renner Business Scholarship is given to students who have at least a 3.75 grade point average and a minimum SAT score of 1100 or equivalent on the ACT. It, too, is renewable for four years. The University of Southern Indiana, located on a 1,400 acre campus in Evansville, Indiana, is a comprehensive public university established in 1965. The University serves 10,000 students in credit programs in undergraduate and graduate study. USI earned ranking as a Carnegie Foundation Engaged University in 2009. The priority of the faculty is teaching. They also engage in research, continuous scholarly and creative work, and provide service to the region and the state. |
