Watch signs for restricted driving lanes in Phase Two construction
|
The second phase of construction is underway for the entrance roundabout at the University of Southern Indiana. Traffic patterns have changed for students, employees, and visitors. The west lanes of University Boulevard are closed, and the east lanes are open to two-way traffic. Cars are allowed to cross west lanes of University Boulevard at the entrance to the Orr Center drive and other access points along the boulevard. Signs are posted identifying the routes. West lanes of University Boulevard are closed to the Art Studio, where the two-lane section of University Boulevard begins. Drivers who want to reach parking areas behind the Health Professions Center and other buildings on the west side of campus can follow University Boulevard around the campus to reach their destinations. A drop-off area with temporary parking area is open west of the Children's Center for patrons. Steve Woodall, director of Security, said, "Pay attention to the signs in the construction area. Slow down when driving on campus, and be aware of workers and public safety officers in the construction areas." The 15 mph speed limit on campus is strictly enforced. The entrance construction is expected to be completed by August 21, barring weather-related delays. Construction's Phase One of the roundabout is finished and parking lot A is open.
