Teaching orientation on August 21

A six-member faculty panel will talk about “What I Know Now that I Wish I Had Known Earlier." Members of the panel are Brandon Eggleston, instructor in Health Services Brandon Field, assistant professor of engineering Renee Frimming, assistant professor of education Matthew Grow, assistant professor of history Sherri Mathis, assistant professor of occupational therapy assistant and Janet Sipes, instructor in mathematics. The faculty attending the orientation will break into groups for the second part of the morning. One group will tour the campus while the second group will participate in a workshop on surviving the first week of classes led by Karyn Sproles, director of Faculty Development. Groups will switch for the second portion of the morning. Lunch follows at 12:30 p.m. Workshops on Teaching The afternoon workshops on teaching are open to all USI faculty. The topics range from technology in the classroom and service learning to creating effective library research assignments and getting students to do the reading.
