USI Theatre holds auditions for A Christmas Carol
University of Southern Indiana Theatre seeks young actors for several roles in its upcoming production of A Christmas Carol, the beloved Christmas classic by Charles Dickens, which will be adapted by Lenny Leibowitz, USI assistant professor of theatre and artistic director of New Harmony Theatre, USI's professional Equity stage. Ebenezer Scrooge is haunted by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him that he will be visited by three ghosts but still has a chance and hope of escaping the same fate that Marley has suffered. Auditions will be held on Wednesday September 16, starting at 6 p.m. in the South Annex on campus at USI.
Leibowitz will direct A Christmas Carol, which runs November 12-22. Rehearsals will begin the week of October 12. Leibowitz seeks both male and female actors, 7 to 15 years old, to play leading and ensemble roles. Actors auditioning for these roles should prepare a poem, monologue, song, or combination not exceeding 90 seconds. For directions, rehearsal, and performance schedule information, or any other questions, contact Jasmine Ruckriegel, assistant director of the play, at 812/465-1668.
