Ira G. Boots, president and CEO of Berry Plastics, will address students in the College of Business as the 2009 Executive-in-Residence on Wednesday, September 16. He will speak to students at 9 a.m. and again at 10 a.m. in Carter Hall in the University Center.

Boots graduated from the U.S. Department of Labor′s tool-making program in 1975 and studied at the University of Michigan′s Executive Business School. He has also served as plant manager and executive vice president of operations during his 30 years at Berry Plastics. Governor Mitch Daniels appointed Boots to the USI Board of Trustees in 2008.

Berry Plastics is a leading manufacturer and marketer of plastic packaging products, including open top and closed top packaging, polyethylene-based plastic films, industrial tapes, medical specialties, packaging, heat-shrinkable coatings and specialty laminates. The company's 17,000 plus customers range from large multinational corporations to small local businesses. Based in Evansville, the company has 68 manufacturing facilities worldwide and nearly 14,000 employees.

The primary purpose of the College of Business Executive-in-Residence program is to provide opportunities for students to gain insights into the business world and into the thoughts and lives of business executives.

For more information about the program, call Michelle Simmons, administrative assistant in the College of Business, at 812/464-1718.
