Jane E. Brody, noted author and health columnist for The New York Times, will present a lecture on end-of-life issues from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, in the auditorium (Room 17) in the lower level of David L. Rice Library. In her lecture, Brody will present a practical primer to help prepare - medically, legally, and emotionally - for the end of life.

Brody holds a degree in biochemistry from The New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University and a degree in science writing at University of Wisconsin School of Journalism. She joined The New York Times in 1965 after a two-year stint as a reporter for the Minneapolis Tribune.

Her award-winning Personal Health column is published in the Science Times section every Tuesday and in many other newspapers around the country.

Brody is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books, including two bestsellers, Jane Brody's Nutrition Book and Jane Brody's Good Food Book. She has appeared on hundreds of radio and television programs and starred in her own 10-part show on public television, "Good Health from Jane Brody's Kitchen." She has written many magazine articles and won prestigious awards for journalistic excellence.

Her lecture is sponsored by the USI Health Services/Health Administration program, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library, and the Vista Care Hospice Foundation.

For more information, call Dr. Kevin J. Valadares, program director and associate professor of Health Services Administration, at 812/461-5277.
