2009 International Colloquium: "Islands"

The broad spectrum of islands discussed includes Sicily, Cyprus, Hawaii, Haiti, Ireland, Venice, Scotland, England, the Dominican Republic, the Uros islands in Peru, and the Gulag Archipelago. Students, faculty, staff, and the public are encouraged to attend the event in support of its goal of increased internationalization of the USI campus as a global community. The event, sponsored by the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, is the sixth annual interdisciplinary colloquium focused on international subjects, including The Parthenon Project, The Ram in the Thicket, Day of the Dead, The Gothic Imagination, and The Great Wall. The colloquia are supported by grants from the Center for Academic Creativity, the College of Liberal Arts, and the Society for Arts and Humanities.
