Erika Myers-Bromwell Director of New Harmony Gallery of Comtemporary Art 812/682-3156 This year's theme, "Going Green," showcases prints that encourage viewers to think about their impact on the environment. Artists were asked to donate an edition of 20 original prints that reveal their commitment to preserving the earth. The prints' contents range from motivational text to criticisms of genetic engineering to quiet reflections of natural wonders. Encouraged to use local, sustainable products for their prints, several artists employed natural inks, hand-made or recycled paper, found or recycled objects, and eco-friendly printing techniques. The exhibition should satisfy the art appreciator, collector, and environmentalist in all of us. Work by the following 31 artists will be exhibited in the exhibition: Michael Aakhus, Chuck Armstrong, Jill Baker, John Begley, Eric Braysmith, Bill Brown, Janet Brown, T.J. Byrd, Jane Case Vickers, Rita and Robin Davis, Joan DeJong, Annie Dowhie, Joe D'Uva, Alison Erazmus, Laura Foster-Nicholson, Janice Green, Ann Lannert, Janet Lorence, Connie McConaughy, Ben Nicholson, Nancy Peters, Nikki Prichett, Maggie Rapp, David Rigdon, Carolyn Roth, John Siau, Curt Uebelhor, Jonathan and Laura Walker, and Tom Williams. During the reception, individual prints will be sold at the bargain price of $20 a piece. Many of the participating artists will be in attendance. All proceeds benefit the gallery. Catering will be provided by Firefly Southern Grill and musical entertainment by Hilary Abigana and Greg Jukes. "Print Invitational 2009" runs through November 15. This exhibition was made possible through the generous support of the University of Southern Indiana. New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is located at 506 Main Street in New Harmony, Indiana, and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
