New Harmony hosts fifth International Cultural Towns Symposium

The opening address will be given by Dr. Linda L. M. Bennett, president of the University of Southern Indiana. Other featured speakers include: - Donovan D. Rypkema, principal of Place Economics of Washington, D. C., on "Sustainable Economic Development: The Cultural Town." - Dee Allsop, president of Heart & Mind Strategies, on "Assessing Cultural Values." - Ian Hunter, co-founder of Littoral Arts Trust in Manchester, England, on "Promoting New Rural Creative Industries, and Art and Rural Regeneration." - Grover Mouton, director of Tulane Regional Urban Design Center, will moderate a panel session on "Arts, Culture and Community Development." Panel participants will be Jeff Soule of the American Planning Association and Mary M. Schoenfeld of Americans for the Arts in Washington, D. C. - Ruth Knack, editor of Planning Magazine, will moderate a plenary session on "The Story of Two Cultural Towns." New this year, continuing education credit will be offered. A conference registration fee of $350 per person will be charged to anyone who resides outside of New Harmony and wishes to attend the symposium. Registration fee includes all meals.
