High altitude balloon launch set for Saturday

USI′s ENGR 471: Engineering Design and Analysis class will be launching a high altitude balloon from the Mt. Vernon, Illinois, airport at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24. The flight is expected to last just over an hour and a half. Dr. Glen Kissel, assistant professor of engineering, said, "We are expecting landing to be between Vincennes, Indiana, and Mt. Carmel, Illinois."

Mission Control for the flight will be in Room 220 of the Technology Center at USI. Interested parties are invited to watch the progress of the flight from Mission Control. "We hope to have a SKYPE broadcast of the launch available at Mission Control," Kissel said.

An Earth Space Science class at Reitz Memorial Catholic High School will have an experiment on board the flight.
