Students to read This I Believe essays

Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Students in USI′s 10 Living Learning Communities read the book This I Believe: The Personal Philosophies of Remarkable Men and Women for the Bonding through Books program for freshmen. Students were asked to write a 350 to 500 word essay telling a story about what they believe in a positive, personal manner. Finalists from each of the participating Living Learning Communities will read their essays and three winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. The finalists are Preston Edge (STEM), Liz Van Hoose (Emerging Leaders), Hannah Dupont (Social Work), Johannah Caress (Nursing and Health Professions), Neisha Thomas (Liberal Arts), Chelsea Heibel (Honors), Claire Buddemeyer (Nursing and Health Professions), Amanda King (Education) and Madison Hovious (Exploring Majors). Judges are Tracy Zeller –˜89 a local businesswoman, Julie Kissinger, a librarian from Mt. Vernon, Jimmy Nesbit, director of Marketing and Communications for United Way of Southwestern Indiana, and James Hitchcock, a Signature School student. For more information, call Dr. Jeff A.
