Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Nicole Louise Reid, associate professor of English and managing editor the magazine, called Fish Hook "one of the strongest issues of USI's student literary and art magazine yet." The student editors of the magazine chose to change its name in part because of the ubiquity of journals called The Aerie. They write in an introductory note to FishHook's first volume, "We have replaced the name with one that is edgy and more in keeping with other fine journals' eschewing of lyricism for its own sake, instead to favor purposeful meaning." FishHook speaks to Evansville's sense of place on a bend of the Ohio River and serves as a metaphor for being lured by the images (whether visual or verbal) of the magazine. The editorial staff includes poetry editor Jenni Moss, prose editor Adrienne Rivera, art editor Lorri Kennedy, layout/design by Jenni Moss, and publicist Kara Waggoner. Contributing authors are Brooke Renee Armbruster, Casey Blackmore, Breck Brizendine, Chris Connors, Mallory Cook, Melissa Cossey, Katelyn Farmer, Roger Gude, Shane Jackson, Andy Jones, Matthew Kolley, Amy Kozlowski, Lauren Moats, Kimberly Myers, Kelly Robinson, Shawna Rodenberg, Susan Ryan, Crystal Steltenpohl, Cassandra Stichter, and Jim Turpen. Contributing artists are Carey Blackmore, Lisa Booe, Joshua Brewer, Keri Duckworth, Steven Edwards, Richard Krocker, Ryan Morphew, Gloria Payne, Kelly Robinson, Angela Stevens, Ben Sutter, Sarah Turner, and Christopher Wilke. USI students, faculty, and staff are eligible for one free copy of FishHook. Additional copies may be purchased for $5. For your copy, email Reid at nreid@usi.edu. |
