Two Fall Commencement ceremonies to be held Saturday in the PAC

Dr. Kevin J. Valadares, associate professor of health services/administration and recipient of the 2009 Integra Distinguished Professor Award, will deliver the Commencement address. A faculty member since 2001, Valadares is program director of the undergraduate program in health services and the Master of Science in Health Administration program. Amy L. Beard of Newburgh is a University Honors Scholar. Beard served as president of Student Government Association and won the 2009 Phenomenal Women award for an undergraduate student at USI. She graduates with a triple major in economics, Spanish, and international studies with minors in chemistry and political science. She plans to attend law school. Graduating summa cum laude with a perfect 4.0 grade point average are Chris G. Schwenk of Evansville, Christina L. Shemwell of Wadesville, and Ashley R. Mewes of Albion, Illinois. Twenty-one students will graduate magna cum laude and 28 students will graduate cum laude. USI began holding Fall Commencement in 2006 and added a second ceremony in 2008 to accommodate the growing number of graduates, family, and friends in attendance. More than 300 students will participate in Saturday's Commencement ceremonies. |
