Juan Williams to speak at USI's Martin Luther King Day Luncheon

Award-winning journalist Juan Williams will be the guest speaker for the University of Southern Indiana's annual Martin Luther King Day Luncheon, to be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, in Carter Hall in the University Center.

Williams' career spans more than 20 years, and includes employment with The Washington Post, where he was an award-winning editorial writer, op-ed columnist and White House correspondent, to his current role as senior correspondent for National Public Radio and a political analyst for Fox News.

An Emmy-winner for television documentary writing, Williams is the author of six books, including Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-End Movements and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America - and What We Can Do About It, igniting nationwide debate with his critical analysis of black leadership. He has appeared as a commentator on Nightline, Washington Week in Review, Crossfire, and Capital Gang Sunday.

The Martin Luther King Day event includes Williams' keynote address a meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens, garden salad, corn bread muffins, and apple pie or chocolate cake for dessert and performances by the Children's Center for Dance Education, Culver Glenwood Drumline, Zion Missionary Baptist Church Praise Dancers, and Designed by Grace, USI's gospel choir.

The luncheon is open to the University community and the general public. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the USI Multicultural Center. If the event sells out, it will be streamed live for an overflow audience in Forum II in the Wright Administration Building.
