Students and faculty stage V-Day 2010

The event is open to the public. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. V Day USI is a local effort within the worldwide context of the 2010 V-Day Campaign. In 2009, over 4,200 V-Day benefit events were produced by volunteer activists in the U.S. and around the world. The USI Philosophy Club has staged "The Vagina Monologues," made up of monologues taken from Ensler's interviews with women around the world, for the past three years with the bulk of proceeds going to Albion Fellows Bacon Center, which provides safe shelter, crisis intervention, and education to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and their children. USI's production of "The Vagina Monologues" is co-produced by Joyah Brooks, a biology major and Philosophy Club member, and Dr. Mary Lyn Stoll, advisor to the Philosophy Club.To purchase or reserve tickets, call 734/755-1497 or email mlstoll@usi.edu. |
