Erika Myers-Bromwell Director of New Harmony Gallery of Comtemporary Art 812/682-3156 The exhibition was juried by Esther Adler, curatorial assistant in the Drawings Department at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. Adler has worked on numerous exhibitions at MoMA since 2005, focusing on curatorial concepts and researching works and their larger art historical concepts for accompanying publications. Adler chose artwork for Feminist Art of Indiana that wouldn't normally be considered feminist. Art focuses on themes of domestic life, traditions of craft-making, and work influenced by feminist images of the past. Artists included in the exhibition are Anila Quayyum Agha, Nicole Bock, and Holly Streekstra of Indianapolis, Sara Bielski, Amy Rich, Jane Case Vickers, Laura Walker, and Kathryn Waters of Evansville, Mary Hambly of Bloomington, Mary Ann Michna of Terre Haute, Alison Erazmus of New Harmony, and Lisa Ryan-Hutton of Newburgh. More information can be found at www.nhgallery.com or by calling the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art at 812/682-3156. New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is sponsored by University of Southern Indiana. This exhibition is made possible through the generous support of the University of Southern Indiana and the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, the Indiana Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. |
