Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 In conjunction with the formation this year of the USI Environmental Stewardship Committee, the Bright Idea Box is kicking off with a focus on environmental stewardship. Every month, the person who submits the best idea will win a prize. Dr. Paul Doss, chair of the Environmental Stewardship Committee, said the committee is collecting environmental stewardship ideas that can be easily implemented, have a measurable impact in reducing energy consumption, and/or involve the entire University community in the sustainability initiative. The monthly winner will choose one of two prizes: A USI Environmental Stewardship Starter Kit (including a reusable "USI Recycles" tote made of recycled plastic, a set of compact fluorescent lightbulbs, a glass reusable lunch container, and "green" cleaning supplies) or a "Kill-A-Watt" (a plug-in energy consumption tracker for appliances) and the tote. Appointed by President Linda L. M. Bennett to review issues related to environmental stewardship and sustainability on campus, the committee includes Doss, Mary Ann Bernard, Wendy Bredhold, Amy Brown, William Haliburton, Traci Johnson, Tim Lockridge, Miles Mann, Zane Mitchell, Mike Mohr, Michael Patzer, Greg Wagoner, and Stephen Zehr.
