Women will play Drury in NCAA Tourney
The University of Southern Indiana's 2009-2010 women's basketball team
USI (22-8) earned an at-large bid into the national tournament and will be the sixth seed, while Drury is the third seed after grabbing the conference's automatic qualifying spot with their 68-63 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in the GLVC Tournament Championship on March 7. Michigan Tech University will host the eight-team tournament after winning the GLIAC title Saturday night. The Huskies host the eighth seed, Northern Kentucky University, Friday in the first round. Wisconsin-Parkside, the fourth seed, will square off with The University of Findlay in the four-five matchup while the second-seeded University of Indianapolis Greyhounds face Northern Michigan University in the two-seven matchup. This marks the eighth time in the program's history and the first time since 2004 that the Eagles have qualified for the NCAA II Tournament. USI is 8-7 all-time in the national tournament and has won two regional championships, with the last coming at Michigan Tech in 2001. |
