The water tower, located on campus behind the Office of Development on Clarke Lane, has been under construction since April 2009 and was raised this morning. Mark Rozewski, vice president for Business Affairs, said that the University is leasing the land for the water tower to the City of Evansville for one dollar per year. "We wanted to partner with the community," Rozewski said. "It is a vitally important community asset, and it had to be at the particular spot because of the topography of the west side. It happens to be one of the highest spots on the west side, and that's important when you're building a water tower." Work on the tower is expected to be complete by June 2010. |
