University of Southern Indiana senior guard Jamar Smith (Peoria, Illinois) was named first team All-American by Division II Bulletin today, marking the fourth national honor for the senior in the last two weeks. Smith, who was named the 2010 Division II Player of the Year in the April issue of Basketball Times, also has been named All-American by Basketball Times, the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Daktronics.

In addition to the All-America awards, Smith was named NABC first team All-District and was selected to play in the NABC/NCAA Division II All-Star Game. He was honored by being named the Midwest Region Player of the Year and first team All-Region by Daktronics this month.

Smith, who was the seventh Eagle to be named GLVC Player of the Year in February, averaged a team-high 21.6 points per game and set the USI single-game (10) and the single-season (108) marks for three-point field goals made. He also set the USI career record with 20.2 points per game in two years.

The first team All-GLVC selection became the second USI men's basketball player to reach the 40-point plateau in a game. The 40 points against the University of Illinois-Springfield was the most by an Eagle in the history of the Physical Activities Center. He also averaged 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

The senior physical education major also was named GLVC Player of the Week twice this year and the December Division II Bulletin National Player of the Month.
