Wendy Knipe Bredhold Media Relations Specialist, News & Information Services 812/461-5259 Nick Earls, SGA representative for the Pott College of Science and Engineering, said, â▚¬Å"Elections this year were a success. We had three candidates for both the president and attorney general positions and the administrative vice president of student affairs and activities office also was contested. The election committee hosted a number of events to promote elections this year including passing out T-shirts around campus and the computer labs, skits around campus, a live debate on SETV, and an acoustic concert in the RFC titled Rock the Vote. This was the first time a debate has been hosted for SGA elections and it is something SGA and SETV look forward to continuing next year." Hope Fussner, a junior elementary education major from Newburgh, Indiana, was elected SGA president. Fussner has been involved in SGA since her freshman year and serves as executive vice president this year. She is a member and social chair of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority and is the resident assistant for the Emerging Leaders Living Learning Community. She was an AMIGO for two years and worked as a Camp Eagle Leader. She is a Student Ambassador and volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club, the Warrick Humane Society, and the Indiana Blood Center, and teaches Sunday School at Crossroads Christian Church. Her career goal is to be a kindergarten teacher and eventually earn a master's degree to become a guidance counselor. Fussner has looked to other universities for ideas about how SGA can improve, and hopes to create a 10-year plan for the organization. In addition, she said, â▚¬Å"I want to conduct focus groups and email surveys, and get to know what students want, and I want to continue to get the SGA name out there. We had a new logo this year, and we put it everywhere. We also conducted town halls in the Eagle's Nest in the UC. That's very important to do during lunch time so we can reach commuter students. We need to bring the answers to the people." Fussner is a graduate of Castle High School, where she served as president of student government. She is the daughter of Gary and Bridgett Fussner of Newburgh.
